3 ripe avocados
1 small tomato, diced
1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
1 jalapeño pepper, minced (seeds removed for less heat)
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 clove garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Mash the avocados: In a medium bowl, mash the avocados with a fork until you reach your desired consistency. For a smoother texture, you can use a food processor.
- Add ingredients: Stir in the diced tomato, red onion, minced jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Taste and adjust: Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasonings as needed.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate: Guacamole is best served fresh. If you need to store it, cover it tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to a day. However, the color may darken over time.
Notes
- For a spicier guacamole, leave the seeds in the jalapeño pepper.
- Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for a citrusy flavor.
- To prevent the guacamole from browning quickly, press a sheet of plastic wrap directly onto the surface before refrigerating.
- Serve with tortilla chips, tacos, or as a topping for grilled meats or fish.
